Canncestra, How We Made it.
Entering the CBD market and developing a pain relief product was not on Dale Bellisfield's professional roadmap for her early 70s. However, her 25 years of experience as an herbalist-nurse taught her that innovative visioning, unwavering perseverance and a spark of romance can transform groundbreaking ideas into a meaningful reality.
Dale's introduction to CBD began with a fortuitous romantic connection with Jerry Eaton, a CBD botanist, during Dale’s challenging period of severe arm pain and neurological symptoms. Initially skeptical about cannabis, Dale was surprised to learn about CBD's therapeutic potential when Jerry offered to create a custom remedy.
Dale cautiously tried Jerry's CBD tincture as an alternative pain relief option for the emergency neck surgery her neurologist scheduled. The results were remarkable: she was able to discontinue painkillers entirely just days after her procedure, marking a pivotal moment in her understanding of CBD as an alternative pain management option.
Recognizing CBD’s pain potential, Dale and Jerry recruited Victor Silva, an innovative pharmacologist-formulator with deep expertise in herbal medicine and skin science. This completed the team. Victor had the perfect blend of credentials and a passion for developing effective pain management solutions. Dale recalls, "He embodied the best combo of scientific rigor and creative passion for improving people's well-being." He not only understood the power of herbal medicine, but the chemistry of penetrating the skin to the tissues below.
The three collaborated to develop a topical lotion as the best form of delivery. Their lotion went beyond typical home remedies, as they were committed to creating a professional-grade product with broader healing potential. Canncestra was born!
Their complementary expertise—Dale's medical background, Jerry's botanical knowledge and Victor’s materials formulation talents—positioned them uniquely to create a novel, high-potency and sophisticated pain relief solution.
The development process was methodical and patient-focused, using new science for improved effectiveness. Multiple formula iterations, extensive testing, and initial distribution through their personal networks validated the product's efficacy. Friends, neighbors, and community members became early advocates.
By 2019, the growing demand and positive feedback prompted a strategic business approach. The team decided to produce their two lotions, and then navigated the complex regulatory landscapes, established a legal frameworks, developed branding, and mastered the intricacies of product commercialization. The products were now ready for launch.
"Our journey has been challenging, yet incredibly rewarding," Dale reflects. "We've successfully transformed a personal solution into a professionally developed pain-management product that genuinely helps people."
Canncestra’s journey exemplifies how professional expertise, curiosity, and collaborative problem-solving can transform a personal health challenge into an innovative wellness solution. The team's persistence transformed an experimental remedy into a carefully crafted, market-ready product designed to support pain management for a broader audience.
